# Granite > Granite is a secure second brain and AI knowledge base for individuals and companies. Notes are plain Markdown files, encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM, a key per vault and per workspace), synced across devices with version history, and edited together live. AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor connect through Granite's built-in MCP server and see only the vaults and folders a person or admin allows. Granite never trains AI models on customer notes and has no AI model of its own. Business workspaces add SSO (SAML 2.0, OpenID Connect), SCIM, roles and groups, an audit log, and security policies. Plans: Free ($0), Pro ($4/month), Business ($15/seat/month, 14-day free trial). Key facts: - Website: https://granite.md/ · Web app: https://app.granite.md/ · Developer docs: https://docs.granite.md/ · Remote MCP endpoint: https://mcp.granite.md/mcp - Encryption is done by Granite's servers (not end-to-end), so search, the AI knowledge base, and live co-editing can work. - Export any vault as plain Markdown files at any time; deleting a workspace destroys its key. - Built to comply with the GDPR, UK GDPR, and the California CCPA/CPRA; Granite never sells or shares personal information; a data processing agreement is available. - Contact: support@granite.md · Security reports: security@granite.md ## Product - [AI knowledge base for companies: your company brain](https://granite.md/ai-knowledge-base/): Give Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and AI agents one secure company brain: cited, permission-filtered answers through MCP, with admin controls and audit logs. - [Knowledge base software for companies](https://granite.md/business/): A collaborative company wiki in Markdown with live co-editing, roles, SSO, SCIM, audit logs, and AI access through MCP. $15 per seat, guests free, 14-day trial. - [Download Granite: web, desktop, mobile, and CLI](https://granite.md/download/): Use Granite in your browser today, offline included.
