How do I organize notes in folders and vaults?

Keep notes in folders inside a vault, and switch between vaults from the bottom of the sidebar.

A vault is a set of notes that syncs as one, such as "Personal" or "Work". Inside a vault, folders group notes the way folders do on your computer.

Create notes and folders

At the bottom of the vault sidebar you'll find New note and small buttons for New folder, Today's daily note, and New canvas. Right-click a folder to create something inside it, rename it, or move it. Drag notes between folders to move them.

Switch vaults

The bottom row of the vault sidebar is the vault switcher. Click it to see your vaults and jump to another one. In the desktop app it groups them into vaults On this computer and All vaults in your account.

Duplicate a note

Choose Duplicate from a note's menu, or run "Duplicate current note" from the command palette. The copy gets the next free name, such as "Plan 2".

A new note that you leave empty and unnamed is dropped automatically, so you won't collect "Untitled" clutter.
