What is Granite?

Granite is a secure second brain and knowledge base for people and companies. Notes are plain Markdown files, encrypted at rest with a key per vault, synced across your devices with version history, and edited together live. AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor can search your notes through Granite's MCP server, but only the vaults and folders you allow.

How do I create an account and my first vault?

Sign up at app.granite.md. Then create a vault: a folder of notes that syncs. The Free plan includes one synced vault; Pro has 10, and Business has as many as you need.

How do I link notes and add tags?

Notes are Markdown. Type [[ to link to another note; the other note shows the link under its backlinks. Type # to add a tag. The graph view shows how your notes connect, and search finds any word in any note.

How do I find a command?

Press Ctrl + P (⌘ + P on a Mac) to open the command palette. Every action is there, so you never have to hunt through menus. You can change shortcuts in Settings → Hotkeys.

Which devices can I use Granite on?

Granite runs in any modern browser at app.granite.md and keeps working offline once opened. The granite command syncs folders on macOS, Linux, and Windows. Desktop apps for macOS and Windows and mobile apps for iOS and Android are coming soon. See Download.

I forgot my password. How do I sign in?

On the sign-in page, choose Forgot your password? and enter your email address. You'll get a link to set a new password. If your company uses single sign-on, sign in with your company account instead; your admin manages that password.
