How does sync work?

Every change is sent to Granite and reaches your other devices within seconds. Notes stay plain Markdown files, so what syncs is exactly what you wrote.

Can I use Granite offline?

Yes. Without a network you keep reading and writing; your edits are saved on the device and sync when you are back online. The web app also works offline once you have opened it.

What is a conflict copy?

If two devices change the same lines before they sync, Granite keeps both. Your version stays in the note, and the other one is saved next to it as a conflict copy. Compare the two, keep what you want, and delete the copy. Nothing is overwritten.

How many devices can I sync?

Free syncs to 2 devices. Pro and Business sync to any number of devices. You can see and remove devices in Settings → Devices.

How large can a file be?

Up to 5 MB on Free, 100 MB on Pro, and 500 MB on Business. Storage is 250 MB on Free, 1 GB on Pro, and 4 GB per seat on Business, pooled across the workspace.

What happens when my storage is full?

New files stop uploading, but everything you have stays readable and downloadable. Free up space or upgrade to start syncing again. You'll see a warning in Settings → Plan and billing when storage is almost full.

Can I sync a folder from a terminal or server?

Yes, with the granite command. Install it with brew install inhaus-team/granite/granite or the script on the Download page, run granite login, then granite sync -watch Notes ~/Notes to keep a folder in sync.
